Yoga Therapy

Overview

The Yoga Therapy student clinic is currently offering online individual yoga therapy assessments. Students are conducting supervised clinical sessions using the Zoom for Healthcare, a secure platform that meets industry standards for privacy in health related communication. Assessments can be scheduled for prospective clients in all 50 states (with some restrictions in NC, OH, and PA). By using smartphones or computers from the comfort of their homes, clients can expect the same level of care that they would receive during an on-campus session in our Natural Care Center. Yoga Therapy interventions may include physical poses, meditation, breath practices, and other yoga based modalities.

Yoga therapists use the tools and practices of yoga to empower clients toward improved health and well-being through the use of postures, breathing practices, meditation, and lifestyle. Yoga therapists understand the multidimensional nature of the individual and work from the premise that the physical, energy, emotional, and spiritual levels are fully integrated and inter-related. In yoga therapy the ancient wisdom, tools, and techniques of yoga combined with traditional and contemporary best practices are adapted to each individual’s unique situation and health challenge with the goal of helping clients improve, maintain and optimize health.

First Visit

Initial yoga therapy session: 90 minutes

Your practitioner will gather information about your health and personal history, health concerns, and lifestyle practices. Depending on the information gathered in this initial intake your therapist may elect to conduct a full postural assessment to identify any musculoskeletal imbalance that may be causing pain or contributing to your discomfort. Once the therapist has completed a full evaluation and assessment you will work in partnership to set goals for your therapeutic yoga practices based on your needs and the therapists findings.

You will leave your first session with an individualized plan to address your specific needs and that will support your journey to increased health and well-being.

Follow Up Visit

Follow-up sessions: 60 minutes

In your follow-up sessions, the yoga therapist will ask you about your practice and provide additional guidance that includes postures, breathing practices and meditation to support your goals.
